Hayward to join TNK-BP

On October 1st, Tony Hayward will be quitting from the position of Chief Executive from British Petroleum which is more popular in its abbreviated form BP. But, the company is in no mood to end the relationship forever. BP owns 50% shares of a Russian firm named as TNK-BP and they want Hayward to be one of the non-executive board members of the company.

Interestingly, before being appointed as the chief executive of BP in 2007, Hayward played the same role in TNK-BP for four years. For the last two years, TNK-BP has not been doing as good as it used to; therefore Hayward is expected to bring a positive change.

Hayward shares a good rapport with most of the Russian political leaders. He also has his influence among most of the Russian shareholders of TNK-BP. The British managers are experiencing serious conflict with the Russian shareholders for some time and appointing Hayward may be a good move that they have made.
